Why Setting up Google My Business is so important

We all know the importance of a responsive, informative, show-stopping website. But the buck doesn’t stop there. Now you need people to see it. After all, the bottom line in business today is you want people to find you in local searches online. If it’s not online, it doesn’t exist. Right? That’s where setting up Google My Business can assist, both with driving more traffic to your site AND helping users find exactly what they need.

By setting up Google My Business, you make it easier for customers to find information about you and your products or services, including customer reviews (read more about how to get these here), trading hours, contact information and directions, across all devices. So now you’ve increased the success of both your online and offline operation. Win!

Best of all? It’s totally FREE. Double win!

4 easy steps to setting up Google My Business

STEP 1: Sign up

First thing’s first, go to the Google My Business dashboard. Once you’re there, you can sign in using your Google account. If you don’t have one for your business, now is the time to sign up. Then click the “start now” button.

STEP 2: Claim your page

Type the name of your business into the search bar on the world map. If your business already exists within Google My Business, it should pop up but if not, click on the “I’ve correctly entered the name and address” section of the dropdown menu – this will allow you to input the full details of your business and continue with the process.

STEP 3: You’re almost there

After you’ve entered all your information, Google then creates your Google + page. You’ll need to confirm you’re authorised to manage your business and verify it through the “mail me my code” option (Google can also send your unique verification code via phone call or postcard).

STEP 4: And voila!

Once you have received the unique code and captured it, you’re on Google My Business. It’s simple as that. Google finishes up by giving you the grand tour of what’s what, but if you prefer to figure things out on your own, you can skip this step and get started.

And there you have it. You’re now firmly set to increase your digital footprint. Alternatively, if you’d like to speak to us about setting up Google My Business or optimising your pages, contact us today.  We’ve got a finger on the pulse and would love to get you on the digital map.
